Vision
Christian baptism calls us to declare and live out Jesus’ mission of proclaiming the Reign of God. Our calling to respond to Jesus’ summons of continual conversion (metanoia) and discipleship leads us to live a life of justice and peace in the world.
Mission
In the light of the Gospel and our baptismal commitment this Center is dedicated to ongoing renewal and reform within the Church.
THIS CENTER WILL SEEK: - · to reclaim within the Christian community the radical vision of the Reign of God by a critical study of Sacred Scripture
- · to empower our ecclesial communities for radical discipleship by creating, promoting, and presenting programs of study in theology, spirituality and liturgy within the context of an open ecumenical dialogue, fellowship, common liturgy and prayer
- · to enable a deeper and more committed relationship with God, with one another and with the world through Jesus Christ by a common commitment to work for justice and peace
Values
- · The Arizona Center for Theological Studies will hold a deep respect and appreciation for the various interpretative traditions within Christianity represented by
- · Roman Catholicism, Orthodox (Eastern Christianity) and the traditions of the Reformation ecclesial communities (Western Protestant Christianity)
- · The Center will be decidedly committed to promoting ecumenism by means of an open, affirming and accepting dialogue within the diversity of the Christian traditions and inter-religious dialogue
- · The Center will support and encourage spiritual growth and will advocate for peace and justice within the Church and the local community
- · The Center will also be intentionally independent of denominational affiliation and yet be unambiguously faithful to the great tradition of Christianity. No one associated with the Center shall be discriminated against on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age or religious affiliation or belief.
